Poas Volcano - Daniela Fernandez

Poas Volcano

The Poas Volcano was created as a National Park in 1971. It is located in Alajuela. This is one of the most visited National Parks in Costa Rica and it has vibrant landscapes. It has been having action since 1747, nowadays it’s droned and eruptions had been decreasing. But, the real trouble is that it emits a lot of gases and sometimes the administration of the park doesn’t have permission to let people get into the area and trails. Despite these kind of inconvenient the volcano is amazing and people who like really cold places and get drenched should come here, this is exactly the site they were looking for.

The access to the Volcano is completely easy; there are safe infrastructures among the entire zig-zag road. Even though, you will enjoy the trip. During the tour you can see a lot of nature and you will be noticing the differences between the “city” and the “country”. This is a great place, but you have to be careful because the rain looms in any moment. Another important aspect, you are going to need sweaters and umbrellas.

In the park, you are going to be able to see a lot of birds. You can see some kind of animals like squirrels, raccoons or pizotes. You can have the opportunity to do canopy; also you can go to the Poas Lake and finally you have the chance to go to the trails, there you can have a nice picnic. The rangers will help you if you have any doubt and they can give important information about the history of the National Park. But, you really don’t need the park ranger because in some places there are screens with the information about the park. And to finish, there is an informative museum where you can go and read about the Poas Volcano.
